Pretty Fed Up Official Writes Poem (AI)

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I admit that I get a kick out of experimenting with generative AI. Here AI laments the state of the world. To wit:

drawing of stacks of money symbolizing the pretty fed up official's despair with the corruption it sees
AI laments the corruption it sees all around it.

An AI Poem About a Pretty Fed Up Official

I'm a pretty fed up official
Working for a corrupt regime
I see the lies and the scandals
But I can't do a thing

I'm a pretty fed up official
Trying to keep my conscience clean
I know the truth and the justice
But I have to play the game

I'm a pretty fed up official
Dreaming of a better scene
I want to change and to rebel
But I'm afraid of the pain

An AI song About a Pretty Fed Up Official

AI is sick of the boss and his lapdogs shown in this lineup of tie-wearing, grumpy-looking white guys.
AI is sick of the boss and his lapdogs!
Verse 1:
I'm a pretty fed up official
I've had enough of this crap
I'm sick of the lies and the bullshit
I'm sick of the boss and his lapdogs
I'm sick of the rules and the pressure
I'm sick of the fear and the stress
I'm sick of the work and the boredom
I'm sick of the mess

Chorus:
I wanna break free
I wanna live my life
I wanna be me
I wanna do what's right
I wanna speak out
I wanna make a change
I wanna shout
I wanna rearrange

Verse 2:
I'm a pretty fed up official
I've seen too much of this shit
I've seen the corruption and the violence
I've seen the injustice and the greed
I've seen the suffering and the silence
I've seen the ignorance and the need
I've seen the damage and the waste
I've seen the pit

Chorus:
I wanna break free
I wanna live my life
I wanna be me
I wanna do what's right
I wanna speak out
I wanna make a change
I wanna shout
I wanna rearrange

Bridge:
But I'm scared
I'm scared of the consequences
I'm scared of the backlash
I'm scared of the loss
I'm scared of the unknown
I'm scared of the cost
I'm scared of the risk
I'm scared of the cross

Chorus:
I wanna break free
I wanna live my life
I wanna be me
I wanna do what's right
I wanna speak out
I wanna make a change
I wanna shout
I wanna rearrange

So, first of all, if you happen to be a pretty fed up official yourself, I definitely want to hear from you about your experience of working for the government during a time of seemingly non-stop corruption and scandals of various sorts. Not just corruption by the government, of course, but by private companies and agencies as well. I invite you to get in touch.

Second, regardless of the creative quality of the AI-generated content, the sentiments seem pretty apt no matter what side of the aisle you like to sit on.

It strikes me that one of the ironies, tragedies, and foolish things about the current political situation is that people on opposite sides of an angry divide feel the very same way. People of all types feel the current system is corrupt and stacked against the people without power.

They’re right.

So what people should be doing, you’d think, is banding together for practical solutions to the overwhelming problem of the concentration of wealth and power. Instead of, let’s say, getting bogged down in ‘culture wars’, name-calling, and the distraction du jour.

People at every level of society, almost, except at the level of corporate power, billionaire power, or spin machine power, see the world around them as drenched in lies and unfurling horrifying revelations at a regular clip.

And yet, people at every level of society, almost, except the professional liars, feel like they ‘can’t do a thing.’

But people can do something, though. They can stop fighting with each other, and start taking aim at the system and the bad ideas about capitalism and economic growth underlying it. The current concentration of wealth and power is not working for anyone – and it can be undone. The current state of affairs is not the only way to do things – it’s time to demand better.
